Company history
The inspiration behind the company was sparked in 1995 when co-founder Seth Goldman who was studying at Yale School of Management, was looking for a thirst-quenching, post-run drink. He found that most available drinks were high in sugar or didn’t satisfy his need for tasty refreshment, so identified a gap in the market.

Seth worked with his Yale School of Management professor, Barry Nalebuff to develop a lower sugar tasty drink. A few years later the company was born, Seth and Barry’s original business plan can still be found on the company’s US website, here. Business went from strength to strength with $5.9 million in sales in 2005 when they became certified organic by the USDA. More information is on the company timeline here.

In 2011 Coca-Cola purchased Honest Tea where it continues to operate as an independent operating unit and Seth and Barry are still involved in the business.

In 2018 the company expanded across the pond to the UK under the name Honest Organic.

Honest Kids is available in major grocers and selected out of home channels. Honest Coffee and Honest Lemonade are available in selected stores and online retailers. The company is actively developing partnerships in the food sector to bring organic beverages to more consumers every day.

Future plans
The company has a major new product launch planned for the Autumn which is very much under wraps at the moment.

They are also planning a charity campaign launching in June that will celebrate the mood elevating benefits of getting out in nature. Honest organic plan to highlight nature that is already around us and add some more!
