The Soil Association’s ‘Best of the Organic Market’ (BOOM) Awards 2021 took place last week with Ocado as the headline sponsor. The Boom Awards are the UK’s only organic awards ceremony, and it was a fantastic opportunity for to celebrate the businesses, producers and brands who are working hard to produce organic food & drink – as well as recognizing those innovating in the organic sector more broadly.

We are happy to report many OTB members won awards! In the food and drink category Organico’s Organic Rosemary Ciappe was the winner of the snack section, with Pip Organic Sparkling Apple winning the Baby & Children’s Food and drink award. Daylesford Organic Lamb Massaman Curry with Speckled Lentils took the award for Chilled & Frozen Savoury category, while Luscious Organic Peppermint Choc Chip Ice Cream won the Sweet Award for the same category.

The Business Award section was also saw big wins for our members; industry stalwart Phil Haughton’s Better Food won the Independent Retailer Award and Waitrose & Partners took the supermarket accolade.

Abel and Cole came away with two Business Awards; the first was for Online Retailing and the second was for Sustainable Packaging, which is great recognition for an area where a lot of thought and effort has obviously been exerted. Coombe Farm Organic came away Best Box Scheme – a category with very stiff competition – and Natracare won best Health & Personal Care Brand.

Lastly, Arla Foods won best Marketing Campaign for their Yeo Valley ‘Put Nature First’ Biodiversity Campaign, a campaign that aligns very closely with ours.

It was great to see so much hard work and dedication being recognised and receiving accolades across the board. A huge congratulations to all the winners and to everyone that took part for a great event.
